History & Conversion
Dritan has been lovingly converted to an exceptionally high standard during 20 years of current ownership. Dritan originally served on the Humber and was built by Dunstans of Thorne for Hodgsons Tannery in 1945, although she was launched in 1946. All works commissioned and overseen by current owners (a former mechanical engineer) to the highest engineering standards, in a sympathetic style commensurate with Dritan’s heritage.

Built in 1895 and one of the last unconverted Sheffield size barges. Most have now been converted and are mainly down South, having left there Yorkshire heritage behind. Humber Keel Barge Taurus 44ft x 17ft 6ins - Stern section
Built in 1921 as a working dumb barge to transport timber, Taurus was last used by Waddingtons. Initially 97ft long x 17ft 6ins wide she has been shortened and this is the beautifully shaped stern section which is 44ft long x 17ft 6ins wide. The hull is strongly constructed with best grade 10mm steel and is in excellent condition. She has had a new bow and a new fore deck built on and she has been ballasted with movable brick.

Built by Joseph Scarr in 1910 Sheffield size 61ft 6ins x 15ft 6ins. Used by the Waterways Museum/Sobriety Project which has sadly gone out of business. Sobriety was used as a residential and day trip boat along the canals and has accommodation for ten passengers and two crew.
