Thomas H is a Sheffield class Humber Keel barge, built by Dunstons of Thorne in 1940 for Hodgsons Tannery in Beverley Beck. I have owned her since 2006 and with help from family and friends, have converted her into a live-aboard.
I personally cleaned and prepared the hold before the interior was spray-foamed.
She now has a large sitting room / kitchen area, two double sized bedrooms, a chemical loo and the original crew quarters.
With their straight sides, Humber barges offer the bigest space it is possible to get in a 61.5 ft barge. The living area has a spacious feel. The ceiling height to the top of the skylights is just over 10 feet, and the two 6x4 foot skylights give us plenty of daylight all year round.
The deck is steel and was added by us in 2006. It is gently curved except for a 12x9 foot flat deck at the front giving a decked area to sit out on sunny days.
The wheelhouse was extended in 2007 and is a good sized, sunny room. We've prepped it ready to put in a nautical seating area.
Thomas was last surveyed in September 2009 and is in excellent condition
pretty much all of the hul has been doubled. We sailed her down from Goole in Yorkshire to the Thames in December 2006.
All the hard work is done. She only needs plumbing, electric and boarding out, to make a fantastic home.
Thomas is currently on a non residential mooring near Staines.

WE TOOK THOMAS OF THE MARKET EARLIER THIS YEAR DUE TO AN ENGINE PROBLEM, AND SHE HAS JUST HAD A FULL ENGINE REBUILD
SHE HAS ALSO JUST COME OUT OF DRY DOCK IN FAVERSHAM AND HAS A NEW SURVEY ( SHOWING THE HUL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION), SHE HAS 11 ANODES FITTED AND A FRESHLY PAINTED HULL.
WE HAVE FITTED 900 LITRES OF FRESH WATER TANKS, AND A 480 LITRE BLACK WATER TANK
AND HAVE RIPPED OUT THE OLD CREW CABIN IN ORDER TO PREP IT FOR WHEN IT BECOMES A BATHROOM, AND .
THE MOORING HAS A BT PHONE LINE ON IT WITH BROAD BAND, AND IS TRANSFERABLE AT THE DISCRESION OF THE MARINA.
THE MARINA PEOPLE, ARE VERY APROACHABLE

Its location is on the outside pontoon of Poplar Dock marina and is a five minute walk from Canary Wharf and the Jubilee line. The marina offers parking, gated entry, night time security guard and an exceptional community.
The accommodation of the boat comprises a spacious wheelhouse used as a living room/bar, a sensational open plan living area, luxurious main bedroom with super king size bed, separate second double bedroom, bathroom with massage shower, engine room and much more.
Wheelhouse
The 20ft x14ft wheelhouse has French double doors and double glazed windows to offer exceptional views of Canary Wharf, the O2, and the marina. The wheelhouse is currently used as an entertaining area with raised stainless steel dining bar, 4 bar stools, 2 day beds, and a wine rack holding 100 bottles of wine. (Wine, subject to negotiation)
Living Room
Situated downstairs past the wine rack set within one side of the staircase into an enormous open plan kitchen, dining room and sensational lounge
The kitchen has utilities such as a modern American fridge freezer in keeping with the boats high standards. The solid wood dining table seats 6 with fisherman lighting hanging above. These reflect off the circular mirror at the end of the table.
The American L-shape sofa and noguchi style coffee table continue the standards for this boat. A red egg chair stands next to the wood burning stove. The wood burning stove can be used, but there is full central heating throughout the boat and 4 radiators in the living room alone.
Accommodation
The main bedroom has a super king size bed. One side of the room is dedicated to storage for clothes and shoes. This room has a porthole.
The second bedroom is at the front of the boat and the whole room curves around the bow of the boat. The double bed is fitted to the shape of the bow of the boat and has storage underneath and a custom made mattress. This bedroom has a walk in wardrobe. A skylight adds plenty of natural light.
Bathroom
The bathroom has a solid oak storage unit with circular sink, toilet and shower with a massage function.
Exterior
Forward, whose exterior has been freshly painted in September 2009 in the traditional colours of blue and cream, has three main areas for use outside. The back of the boat has an area which there is currently a BBQ. The very front of the boat has an area for a sunlounger where there is currently a hammock, and the main entrance has a patio area with a table and seating for four. At night, subtle lighting can be turned on which traverses along the length of the vessel.
Engine
The original engine runs perfectly. It is a Lister JP3 3 cylinder diesel engine, rated at approx 35 Hp in excellent condition. The boat has been out at sea under her own steam, and is frequently started. Fuel tank capacity is approx 240 gallons in two tanks. The engine room has space for storage or for utility goods.
Hull
The hull was jet washed, blacked and new anodes fitted when the boat was last out of the water in August 2009. The whole of the hull has been spray-foamed to a minimum of three inches on the walls and the ceilings, giving excellent insulation throughout.

Luxury family Home, this Barge needs to be seen!!
